There are two ways to get the ring right. One fits your schedule; one creates a memory. At LaProng, we’ve built both — because the right path depends on your situation, not ours.
Here’s exactly how each one works.
Design Your Ring Online: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Browse & Select Your Style
Start by exploring our ring style categories — solitaire, halo, three-stone, accented, vintage-inspired, hidden halo, and more. If you already know what she wants, filtering by style narrows your choices quickly. If you’re starting from scratch, our Ring Style Guide walks through every option with photos, descriptions, and practical guidance on who each style suits best.
Once you’ve identified a style direction, our online ring builder lets you preview how different combinations look before you commit to anything. You can toggle between metal types (yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, platinum) and see how the ring changes character with each choice.
Not sure where to start? Book a free consultation with Joseph. A 20-minute conversation often brings more clarity than an hour of browsing alone.
Step 2: Choose Your Certified Diamond
Every ring starts with a stone. Our diamond inventory is fully GIA-certified — natural and lab-grown options available across every carat range, shape, and quality tier.
Use the diamond filter in our builder to narrow by shape (round, oval, cushion, pear, princess, emerald, and more), carat weight, color grade, and clarity grade. Each stone in our inventory comes with its full GIA grading report, so you know exactly what you’re selecting.
If you’re new to diamonds, our Diamond Buying Guide covers everything you need — the 4 Cs, natural vs. lab-grown, GIA certification, and how to balance quality and budget. Most buyers find that reading it once saves them significant money and prevents common mistakes.
A note on comparison: If you’re comparing diamonds across sites, compare GIA report numbers — not just the carat and price. Two 1.0ct diamonds with the same price can perform very differently based on cut quality, which isn’t always obvious from a table of numbers.
Step 3: Personal Jeweler Review & Confirmation
This is the step that sets LaProng apart from every online ring retailer.
After you submit your design, Joseph personally reviews your order — every combination of stone, setting, and metal — before a single tool touches the metal. He checks for aesthetic cohesion (does the stone proportion work with the setting?), quality alignment (is the stone a good match for this setting style?), and practical considerations (will this hold up to her lifestyle?).
If everything looks right, you receive a design confirmation. If Joseph spots something worth discussing — a better combination at the same price, a proportion issue, a question about sizing — he reaches out directly. Most reviews are completed within 1–3 business days.
This is not an automated approval. It’s a real jeweler making sure you don’t make a decision you’ll regret.
Step 4: Production & Insured Delivery
Once your design is confirmed, production begins. Your ring is made in our studio — not outsourced — and goes through a multi-point quality check before it leaves our hands.
Standard production takes 10–18 business days. After quality approval, your ring ships via fully insured, signature-required carrier with tracking provided to you. From order confirmation to ring in hand: typically 2–4 weeks.
Your ring arrives in elegant packaging, ready to present. If you have a specific date in mind — a trip, a birthday, a planned proposal — tell us at the time of ordering and we’ll prioritize accordingly.
Make Your Ring In-Person: The Workshop Experience
What to Expect at the Studio
Our Carrollton, TX studio is a private, working jeweler’s workshop — not a showroom. When you arrive, Joseph will walk you through the session ahead, show you the tools you’ll be using, and let you ask every question you have before anything starts. The environment is relaxed, unhurried, and one-on-one.
You’ll select your stone from our workshop catalog, and then the making begins.
The 4–6 Hour Forging Experience
The workshop covers the complete ring-making process from raw material to finished piece. Under Joseph’s guidance, you’ll:
- Shape the band — size and form the metal to the correct ring profile
- Solder and join — close the band and ensure a clean, strong seam
- Set the stone — position and secure your diamond or gemstone in the setting
- Refine and file — smooth transitions, check proportions, perfect the profile
- Polish — bring the metal to its final finish, from matte to high-polish depending on your chosen look
- Inspect — review the completed ring with Joseph before you leave
Every step is hands-on. You do the work; Joseph guides and ensures. Most participants need no technical background — just patience and a willingness to follow instruction.
The session typically runs 4–6 hours depending on your chosen design. More intricate designs (vintage-inspired, accented bands) take longer. Joseph paces the session to you — there’s no rushing.
Guided by Master Jeweler Joseph
Joseph has guided hundreds of first-timers through this process, and his approach is equal parts technical expertise and patient instruction. He explains the why behind every step — not just the how — so you come away understanding what you’ve made, not just that you made it.
He’s also practical: if something isn’t going perfectly, he helps you course-correct before it becomes a problem. The goal is a ring you’re genuinely proud of — not a souvenir of the attempt.
Leave With the Ring the Same Day
When the session ends, you leave with your finished ring. Not a deposit confirmation. Not a timeline. Your ring — worn or boxed, ready for the moment you’ve planned.
This same-day completion is one of the most meaningful aspects of the workshop experience. There’s something powerful about handing her something you literally made with your hands, the same day you made it.
Which Path Is Right for You?
Both paths lead to the same destination: a ring that reflects your intention and her taste. But they suit different situations.
Choose online if:
- You’re proposing soon and need certainty about the outcome
- You live outside the Dallas-Fort Worth area
- She has a very specific style in mind and you want precision
- You prefer to manage the process on your own timeline
Choose the workshop if:
- You want the most meaningful story possible
- You’re within reasonable travel distance of Carrollton, TX
- You want to be fully involved in every detail of the ring
- You value the experience as much as the outcome
Not sure? Many customers choose to design online and use that decision as the start of a conversation with Joseph. He can tell you quickly whether your instincts are right or whether the workshop path might be worth considering.
